JULY 10: Welcome to HollyWOOF! 'Take your Dog to the Movie Night'. Rescheduled from a rainout in June – A joint effort between DIG and Friends of Penn Valley Park in the Penn Valley off-leash area. Festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. with a two-hour play session in the Penn Valley Off-Leash Dog Park. Then, some of the hippest, stylish dogs in Kansas City will strut their stuff in the fashion show at 8 p.m. After a chance for folks to show off their dog’s most amazing talents (the winner receives a $50 gift certificate to City Pets and Ponds) the movie, “Best in Show” will begin on a large movie screen just south of the Penn Valley Off-Leash Dog Park at 9:00 PM. In addition to the evening’s activities, attendees are asked to bring dog and cat food that will be donated to Spay and Neuter Kansas City to support its Pet Assistance Program. This program provides food to needy pet owners in the inner city. JULY 15: Suds of Fun Dog Wash benefitting Humane Society of Greater KC at U-Wash Puppy (75th & Nieman in Shawnee) from 4-8 pm. Bring your dog in for a scrub! Only $5 per dog, and all proceeds from this dog wash will benefit the animals at our shelter. We will also have free doggie cones from Sheridan's, fire truck tours, and information booths by local pet businesses. Meet pets available for adoption from 5-8 p.m. Enter your scruffy canine in our dirtiest dog contest for chance to win a prize! Or, you can dress your pup up in style for our costume contest.
