FEB 3: Barkville Pet Boutique & Nutrition Specialist FREE Presentation, Better Nutrition, Better Health, featuring guest speaker and dog and cat nutrition expert, Sarah Dixon. 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Barkville Pet Boutique located at 6325 Lewis Street next to Nick and Jakes restaurant. In addition to participating in a Q&A session after the presentation, each week participants will receive customized presentation materials as well as pet food samples. These presentations are sure to elevate pet owner awareness regarding their dog or cat’s digestion system, basic information about nutrition and the requirements for dogs and cats. The presentations will also educate pet owners about the pet food industry and the variety of diets available to meet the needs of their pets.

FEB 7: Animal Haven’s Martinis & Weenies 2009, Mardi Paws. Guests will be served a chop-lickin’ feast featuring individual “King’s Cakes” with tiny dog and cats inside, as well as drinks such as “furr-icanes” & “Miss Kitty cosmopolitans.” Entertainment will be provided and guests can bid on silent and live auction items. Festivities start at 5:30pm at the Marriott Hotel Downtown, Muelbach Tower. The costs of tickets are $125 and can be reserved by calling 913.432.7548. Proceeds from the event are used to help as many pets as possible find the loving homes they deserve, while working to ensure that animals in Animal Haven’s care are healthy: behaviorally and physically.

FEB 10 – APR 27: Paws for Freedom Volunteer Class. Every Tuesday evening at 6pm from 2/10 – 4/27. This eight week hands-on class will teach you how to socialize and help train our future service dogs. Cost is $30 to cover the cost of materials.
