Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month (ASPCA)

APRIL 4: College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri invites you to their annual open house themed "One Life, One World, One Health." From 9 am -2 pm come enjoy a fun- and education-filled day with performances by the Purina Incredible Dogs, take a hospital tour and meet our clinicians, see how veterinary research affects human medicine, learn about veterinarians' roles in natural disasters, view our equine treadmill in operation and enter a reptile exhibit ... if you dare! APRIL 18 & 19: The Kansas City Pet Expo presented by No More Homeless Pets KC at The American Royal Center. The goal of the The Kansas City Pet Expo is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about pets, and the products and services that are available to provide optimal care for these animals. APRIL 25: The Pet Connection is holding a walk-in vaccination and microchip clinic from 10am-2pm at the Turner Recreation Center, Kids Fit-N-Fun event (831 S 55th St., KCK, 66106.) $10/shot (for dogs: rabies, da2pp and for cats: rabies, fvrcp) and $15 microchips. No appointment necessary. There will be a dentist to show kids how to take care of their teeth and a police officer to do finger prints. We will have dogs to show that are available for adoption.

APRIL 26: Northland Animal Welfare Society’s 2nd Annual Woofstock - a festival for dogs & people! The 5k fun run will take place AT 8:30 AM in and around Zona Rosa (8640 N. Dixson Ave., Kansas City, MO 64153). Runners are welcome to run with their dog (if they are up for the challenge. Awards categories will be given to the top finishers in each age category as well as top overall male & female. Age categories are broken down into 5 yr. age groups. The 1-mile dog walk begins at 9am and additional family friendly events will follow (pictures, dog singing contest, dog fashion show, live music, demonstrations by stunt dogs, & more).
